Aerospace, Defence and Space
Development of composite materials was initially driven by the Aerospace Industry’s need to achieve higher mechanical performance from lighter materials that also provided greater design flexibility. Today that requirement has been translated into a whole range of technical solutions.
Applications include:
Solar Panels for Satellites
With an aluminium honeycomb core and either carbon fibre or aluminium skins, very flat panels can result from particular processing methods that have been developed over a number of years making these panels ideal for applications such as solar panels for satellites.
Additionally the panels can be bonded with Kapton, a polyimide film with a unique combination of properties that are maintained over a wide temperature range.
• Panels and Sub Assemblies for Motion and Static Simulator Structures
• Avionics racking systems
• Galley honeycomb panels & lightweight interior structures
• Specialist bonding for aircraft guidance systems
• Generator Housings for the Rapier 2000 Surface to Air Missile System
• Radomes & Nose Cones
• Aircraft & helicopter floor panels
• Housings for surveillance equipment
• Bonding of intricate structures
Bonded structures and assemblies –
lightweight panel systems - composite structures
As well as basic flat panels, Technical Resin Bonders manufacture complete assemblies to exacting standards by combining the use of modern production equipment with a highly skilled workforce. Very lightweight constructions can be achieved by employing Cellite Honeycomb Sandwich Panels, machined, joined and decoratively finished in order to provide cost effective solutions for many different requirements including:
Modular type galley and retail areas for passenger rail vehicles
Large structures such as static and motion simulators
Complex vehicle chassis
Furniture and panelling for yachts, fast ferries and luxury craft
Cellite Honeycomb Sandwich Panels are the ideal component to use for most lightweight assemblies. Individual panels may include integrally bonded `hard points' to accept heavily loaded attachments. Using the company's 3 axis CNC router, which uses the latest CAD/CAM software, panels can be machined precisely to complex shapes and potted inserts can be fitted to provide attachment points for brackets, shelving and other fittings. The panels, can have hardwearing laminates pre-bonded, or may be painted and are easily joined by a variety of methods to form large units. Edges can be finished using anodised or painted extrusions, alternatively where the edges are not seen, inexpensive fillers or sealants can be used.
Bonded assemblies, manufactured from Cellite Honeycomb Sandwich Panels, are extremely lightweight, yet very high strength. They offer flexibility of design combined with low life cycle costs and are built to meet the latest regulations of the rail, marine and aircraft industries.
With sophisticated software, including SolidWorks" 3-D modelling, Technical Resin Bonders has the ability to import data in various drawing formats
