Precision gear cutting to a large client base both in the United Kingdom and globally.

Clients include Smith Industries, Goodrich Aerospace, Muirhead Aerospace, BAe Systems

Bevel Gears

Tradex are able to manufacture two types of straight cut bevel gears.

Gleason System Bevel Gear. Bevel gears manufactured to the Gleason system are generally used within the Aircraft, Aerospace and Defence industries.

Mikron System Bevel Gear. Bevel gears manufactured to the Mikron system are usually of finer pitch, and are used for transmitting motion rather than power.

Tradex - Precision Bevel Gears to the finest standards.

Gear Hobbing

Tradex uses state of the art Gear Hobbing machinery to cut gears to the highest British and International standards.

Spur Gears

The teeth on Spur gears are cut parallel to the axis. There are two types of Spur Gear the External Spur gear and the Internal Spur gear.

The External Spur gear

External Spur gear teeth are used to provide a constant speed and torque relation between parallel shafts.

The Internal Spur gear

The internal spur has many advantages over the external spur, tooth strength is greater, and it operates at a closer centre distance, are just two.

Helical Gears

The teeth on helical gears are cut at an angle to the face of the gear this increases the strength of the teeth because of the elongated helical wrap around.

When two teeth on a helical gear system engage, the contact starts at one end of the tooth and gradually spreads as the gears rotate, until the two teeth are in full engagement.

This gradual engagement makes helical gears operate more smoothly and quietly than spur gears. For this reason, helical gears are commonly used in transmissions, for example, helicopter gears and transmissions.

Worms and Wormwheels

Worm and wormwheel systems are simply a crossed axle helical gear system which has a drive wheel with a maximum of six teeth. Fully reversable worm wheels are used for aero engine reverse thrust systems.

Involute Splines

Involute Splines are favoured over Straight Sided Splines because of their greater strength and the fact that for any given pitch the tooling can cut any number of teeth

resulting in a more cost effective production method. Involute gears are of the highest quality: tight meshing, smooth running and long lasting.

CNC machining

Computer numerical controlled machining or CNC machining is a versatile system that allows you to control the motion of tools and parts through computer programs that use numeric data.

At Tradex we are dedicated to producing precision components, using the highest quality CNC turning centres.
