Seat-only Part 147 training

Keeping the world's biggest holiday airlines flying, Thomson Airways Engineering Department has unrivalled part 147 training facilities for its own engineers which it hopes now to make available to self employed contract staff, individual contractors or other aircraft engineering organisations when required, on a seat-only basis ... the affordable option. Thomson Airways Technical Training Department is embedded within the engineering management structure of Thomson Airways Ltd., member airline of the TUI Travel Group, global operators.

Boeing 767 757 and 737NG type training

Capabilities extend across all the aircraft operated by Thomson, Boeing 767 type training, Boeing 757 type training and Boeing 737NG type training. Boeing 767 includes both GE CF6 powerplants and PW4000, Boeing 757 RB211 and PW2000 powerplants.

Part 147 differences training

Affordability is the main benefit of the the part 147 differences training practised at Luton. Why pay to study what you already know?

Equally, it is possible to concentrate on specific training, engine borescope inspection training, engine ground running training, human factors continuation training, SFAR 88/fuel tank safety level 1 and level 2 and EWIS/EZAP training.

Engine borescope inspection training

Inspectors need formal training to ensure borescope inspection is an effective, non-destructive means of visually inspecting internal areas of an aero engine. This is to detect distress in a gas turbine engine and aircraft components. Detect, interpret and document internal distress is an important element in the skillset of an aircraft engineer, using instructional aids, and evaluative methods used to train inspectors. For example, there are differing schools of thought on the issue of borescope inspector certification, of which those employed in the industry need to be aware.

Engine ground running training

Engine ground running training has to consider aircraft system operation as required for engine operation and safety, emergency procedures, APU operation, ground running blast area, inlet suction area, reverse blast area, fire protection, safe areas and safety precautions for maintenance personnel during engine operation, engine operational limits, engine performance parameters and corrections for ambient conditions, pre-start briefing of crew on the aircraft, internal and external pre-start checks, wet and dry motoring procedures, post start checks, engine tests, shutdown procedures, post engine run checks and aircraft records.

Human factors continuation training

The importance of Human Factors is becoming increasingly apparent in the field of aircraft maintenance. This is reflected by licensing requirements but is also common sense. Personnel will fall back into old habits. As a stategy to avoid this, a full integration of Human Factors into Technical Training should take place in the long term, in such a way that Human Factors awareness and skills become a natural aspect of task performance.

SFAR88/fuel tank safety training

This course is aimed at Management, Quality Assurance Personnel and staff directly involved in the certification of aircraft and component maintenance in Part M & Part 145 organisations. Also Management, Inspectors and Auditors of Competent Authorities.

EWIS/EZAP training

Electrical Wiring Interconnection System (EWIS) Training Programmes including Enhanced Zonal Inspection Analysis Procedure (EZAP) for prevention of wire failure in aircraft systems use advanced techniques, such as automated wire test equipment and arc-fault circuit breakers. Inspection criteria relating to the environment that a wire is placed in, now specify an enhanced zonal analysis procedure (EZAP), which treats wiring as a separate system and emphasizes close inspections of potential trouble areas.
