The Middle East is playing an increasingly important role in world
aerospace.
In Abu Dhabi, Mubadala is a company creating new aerospace industry including
manufacturing, maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO). This initiative will include
research and development and training and education facilities.
GE engine maintenance
Abu Dhabi’s Mubadala Development Company has an agreement with GE for engine
maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) in the Middle East, centred in Abu Dhabi.
GE Aviation will provide technical support and services, including technical and
corporate training support, comprehensive material support, and licenses to overhaul GE engines.
GE CF6-50 engine overhaul
Abu Dhabi Aircraft Technologies (ADAT) will become the world’s first MRO Network
provider for GEnx engines, the next generation products and technologies. ADAT will acquire GE90 modular and
on-wing support capability.
The Middle East has the highest global concentration of GE90 Engines. GE will support
ADAT to perform modular assembly/disassembly for Etihad Airways’ fleet of 36 GE90-115B engines (current and
on order). In addition, ADAT will become a member of the global network of On-Wing Support providers for
GE90-115B engine support.
GE will also provide CFM56 & CF6
engine overhaul and material support.
GE and CFM International will provide ADAT (CFM56-5A/B/C, CF6-50/80C) and SR Technics
(CFM56-5B/C) with engine overhaul and technical support.
