Aerospace broaching and broach tools.
Rotary broach tools are used to put hex and square-shaped holes into aerospace metal
components. Used in screw machines, CNC machines and CNC lathes accept the tool holders without
alteration.
At one end of the size spectrum, there is
an increased volume of micro components in aerospace and also an increased demand for internal broach tools,
tools for producing involute splines, straight-sided splines and serrations. At the other end of the size
spectrum, aerospace also has a growing requirement for the highly sophisticated fir-tree root broaches for
turbine disc applications.
Aerospace broach tools need to be maintained and servicing includes regrind,
repair and refurbishment.
Broach tools are aerospace cutting tools that remove metal quickly and accurately.
Broaching tools are used to carve parts like the internal fan rotor of a jet engine. The fan rotor is deep inside the jet engine and forms part of the
high-pressure thrusters.
Advances in hydraulic workholding have made the process possible.
