MAC Interiors Bae146 RJ70 VIP Interiors for prestigious
Eastern European customer.
MAC Aircraft Interior
Specialists, the UK’s leading aircraft interior refurbishment and manufacturing company, do bespoke VIP interior
completions, in this case a BAe146 RJ70 interior for Inflite Engineering, on behalf of a prestigious Eastern
European customer.
The interior consists of
luxurious leather divans and individual VIP seats with the divan designed to achieve maximum viewing of the
central 42” television. Coving panels replaced overhead bins
creating a spacious feeling throughout the aircraft and the original lavatory design was extended to include a
vanity unit and a large white Corian basin with Villeroy & Boch faucets. In-flight entertainment systems supplied by Bang & Olufsen incorporate
surround sound speaker system tested and approved by Tenencia. There are also two bar areas at the front of the
aircraft that incorporate electronically operated doors into the cabin.
To ensure the cabin maintains a
luxurious feel, MAC Interiors worked intensively to reduce the amount of aircraft interior
signage. This was achieved by colour coordinating the signs so
that they are visible yet still meet all the aircraft’s regulations.
MAC used a new innovative dip
film process to meet flammability requirements on the cabin veneers. They also engineered a goose neck hinge
system to the toilet seat, which helped with space constrictions in the lavatory design.
The aircraft was formerly a
70-seat commercial plane, so luxury VIP conversions constitute a big challenge.

MAC Interiors complete second Falcon 20 refurbishment for EGYPT AIR.
MAC Aircraft Interior
Specialists, the UK’s leading aircraft interior refurbishment and manufacturing company, has completed the
interior refurbishment of the second of three Falcon 20 aircraft for Egypt Air. The first aircraft was completed
at the end of 2008 and the third commenced interior refurbishment at the end of May 2009.
The latest Falcon 20 was
completely refurbished throughout by MAC and Egypt Air Maintenance and Engineering. The interior woodwork,
including the Galley and pull out tables, were all re-veneered with Burr walnut, the cabin seats were re-styled
and fitted with new foams and premium quality leather upholstery. The gold throughout the aircraft was stripped,
re-polished and re-plated and new composite structures design was manufactured and approved where required. All
of the installation work was achieved at the premises of Egypt Air in Cairo. The timeframe provided for MAC to complete their part in the manufacturing and
refurbishment work was 6 weeks.
A demonstration of
manufacturing and design capability, as well as speed and efficiency, the programme has been a challenge for
both MAC and Egypt Air, for not only performing aircraft interior component refurbishment to the highest
standard, but also involved training on how to fit and care for the new aircraft interiors. This will enable the airline to save massive costs on maintaining the aircraft
in future. They now have an all encompassing Memorandum of Understanding with Egypt Air to partner them on many
other projects in the future. This is an exciting opportunity for MAC.
