Hanley Smith 'BushOut' kits

Precision & Aeronautical Engineering aircraft gse solutions include the Hanley Smith BushOut which cuts wheel bush removal time from hours to minutes!

If time is precious, and you are in the business of reducing maintenance time and costs, the Hanley Smith 'BushOut' will be of interest to you.

One of the problems of landing gear maintenance and overhaul, which can be particularly difficult and costly in terms of component damage, is the removal of wheel bushings and liners. To overcome this problem we have developed a unique wheel bushing and liner extraction system, which quickly and cleanly withdraws interference fit components, without damage to either component or housing.

The BushOut is a modular concept design, allowing engineers to easily configure the BushOut to the required size to extract the bush or liner. The process of extraction is quicker and more efficient.

A patented expandable collet, which fits within the bore of a bush or liner and engages on its inboard end, can extract most bushes and liners from 1.7" (45mm) to 7" (180mm) diameter. The extraction is performed by either a press, a hydraulic ram or pneumatic gun. A 45 kg wheeled tool kit enables interference fit components to be extracted at any location, quickly, cleanly and without damage to either component.

'BushBaby' extraction kits.

Hanley Smith Precision & Aeronautical Engineering Solutions include the 'BushBaby'

Aircraft wheel bushes and liners can be removed in minutes with the 'bushbaby' extraction kit from Hanley Smith.

If time is precious and you are in the business of reducing maintenance time and costs, the Hanley Smith 'BushBaby' will be of interest to you.

One of the problems of landing gear maintenance and overhaul, which can be particularly difficult and costly in terms of component damage, is the removal of bushings and liners. To overcome this problem we have developed a unique extraction system, which quickly and cleanly withdraws interference fit components, without damage to either component or housing.

Following the success of the 'BushOut' Hanley Smith have developed the 'BushBaby' for the fast removal of smaller back to back bushes from bores as small as 6.4mm.

This patented tool can remove back-to-back bushes as small as 0.25" (6.4mm) bore. A bush is forced out by injecting high-pressure water between bushes. Our 747-flap carriage kit contains lances to remove bushes from 0.25" (6.4mm) to 2.14" (54mm) diameter.

Advantages of the BushBaby

Manpower saving through operator safety There is no misuse of punches or drifts, no splintering of shafts, no smashed fingers or limbs. There is nothing, which requires to be hit.

Downtime saving through less out of service time. The equipment is fully portable and can be used equally well in the hangar, on the pan or in the workshop. A level 4-maintenance fitter can now extract bearings and liners that may have been cut out previously.

Avoids secondary damage using the BushBaby bush extraction kit, stopping extra operations such as secondary part replacement or repair.

Space saving through taking less floor space The ability for one man to 'take the press to the job' can save the need to marshal components around the workshop.

The BushBaby system has a wide-ranging number of Lance sizes to cater for Undercarriage and Flap carriage bushes so contact Hanley Smith with your specific requirement and we will be pleased to provide a quotation
