Tilt sensors

Tilt sensors and inclinometers from Applied Geomechanics Inc use the earth’s gravity vector as their primary reference. Both electrolytic and accelerometer based tilt sensors are available. They give many years of reliable performance in hazardous environments with µradian resolution.
Applications include monitoring of buildings and similar structures, bridges and dams, alignment of fixed and mobile instrumentation such as radar antennas, monitoring of offshore and subsea platforms, measurement of pitch and roll in land and seaborne navigation systems.
Modified tilt sensors can operate in vacuums with a high degree of radiation resistance. Both analogue and digital tilt outputs are available.

Magnetic Sensors

Honeywell Magnetic Sensors are among the most sensitive and reliable low-field sensors in the industry. Designed with Anisotropic Magnetoresistive (AMR) technology, AMR sensors provide significant advantages over traditional sensors. Honeywell magnetic sensors are designed to accurately detect the direction and magnitude of external magnetic fields for compassing and magnetometry applications.
The Magnetic Sensors product family includes a broad offering of magnetic sensors, magnetometers, compasses and dead reckoning modules.
Common applications are compassing in passenger automobiles, traffic detection and management, cell phones and handheld GPS receivers, along with compassing and dead reckoning in vehicle, aircraft, marine and personal navigation.

High Temperature electronics

Honeywell has developed a revolutionary family of High Temperature electronic component products that use our Silicon On Insulator (SOI) technology to provide extraordinary value in high temperature electronics applications. Designed to continuously operate for at least 5 years at 225 Degrees Centigrade, our standard electronic product family is targeted at sensor signal conditioning, data acquisition, and control applications in hostile environments, and offers significant reliability and performance advantages over traditional silicon integrated circuits when the operating temperatures are greater than 150C.
Products include HTMOS Standard Electronic Products, Custom Analog, Mixed Signal and Digital ASIC Solutions,  Thin Film Resistor Networks, Specialized Multi Chip Module MCM Packaging for customized solutions, Magnetic Field Sensors.

Existing applications include Intelligent Completions and Permanent Monitoring for Oil Exploration and production, aero engine Distributed Controls for Aircraft and Stationary Turbine Engines, Distributed Electronics for Industrial Process Transmitters.

Smart pressure transducers.

Honeywell high precision pressure sensors and precision pressure transducers offer outstanding features and benefits for a variety of applications. With over 40 years of experience designing and fabricating Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems MEMS piezoresistive pressure sensors and precision pressure transducers, Honeywell offers advanced pressure sensing solutions that deliver unparalleled accuracy and stability.
Our family of Precision Pressure Transducers combines proven silicon sensor technology with microprocessor-based signal conditioning to provide extremely powerful, accurate and stable pressure transducers.
Common applications include altitude measurement, laboratory instrumentation, FM and CSA certified industrial pressure measurement, barometric pressure measurement, meteorology and secondary air data sensors.

Inertial Measurement Units.

Inertial Measurement Units are the key elements used in the precise analysis of motion sensing. Tactical grade units are used for short term missions e.g. missiles and guided munitions. Inertial grade IMUs are used in missions lasting several hours and form part of an Inertial Navigation System. Lower cost IMUs are now being applied to commercial areas such as robotics and biophysical research. The integration of GPS (Global Satellite System) allows relatively low performance sensors to be used for quite precise uses e.g. airborne camera mounting.

Honeywell Aerospace Thermostats.

Honeywell Aerospace Thermostats & switches rely on the opening and closing of bi-metallic contacts at preset temperatures.
However, Thermostats for the Aerospace & Defence markets are somewhat specialized in that they are high reliability thermostats in hazardous environments. They must perform as Mil-spec thermostats. Some units are  hermetically sealed thermostats and will happily operate in outer space.

Linear Accelerometers.

Aerospace accelerometers are some of the most commonly used motion sensors available. Many designs have been introduced but for most applications in the frequency range DC-2000Hz, the Force rebalance and capacitive Micromachined accelerometers are the most common.
The Honeywell servo type Force Rebalance, Q-Flex accelerometers, are the Inertial Grade industry standard. The unit will provide long term precision repeatability in military or commercial environments. They form the building blocks for tactical and Inertial navigation systems, displacement of dams, bridges and buildings when used as a tilt sensor, rail track integrity. Ruggedised, high temperature models operate in MWD (Measurement while Drilling) downhole tools.
The Silicon Designs MEMS capacitive accelerometers are housed in an 8mm square chip. They are rugged and reliable and used  for vibration measurement in offshore applications, Safe & Arm in air weapons, commercial and F1 and general automotive design and test.

Honeywell Dead Reckoning Measurement units.

Honeywell Dead Reckoning Measurement units were originally designed for navigation of the soldier on foot, in areas where GPS is unavailable. A combination of magnetic compass, attitude sensors, and barometer and pace counting computes positioning and elevation of the soldier within 5 % of distance travelled.  With an on board GPS receiver the soldier’s movements can be modeled via a Kalman filter prior to entering the GPS “Dead zone”. These modules are increasingly being used by all emergency services plus new commercial areas such as agriculture, orienteering and archaeology.

Oven controlled oscillators OCXO.

Oven controlled oscillators are used in huge numbers in the telecommunications industries. However, without careful compensation they do not operate well in certain applications e.g. space launchers, where high and low g are experienced. Ruggedisation and electronic design have resulted in a range of single and multiple output single and double ovened oscillators that operate well in these special environments.

In conclusion, the company offers a wide range of very specialized sensors. Our Principals are the market leaders in their field and invest heavily in R&D and technical support. We are always happy to hear about your application. If we cannot supply a solution we are happy to recommend a possible alternative.
