£300m for a gaff that flys... just reclining seats and chilled champagne and of course, no queues!
Take a luxury jet interior specification and then some! A Turkish bath for four instead of just aircraft onboard
showers. A concert hall and not just in-flight entertainment.
A converted superjumbo, an Airbus A380 will become the world's largest private jet when the project is finished
by Design Q and Case4de. It is being designed to order by aircraft interior design consultancy firm Design Q for a
Middle East customer. Concept development and prototyping is their expertise.
Bear in mind an A380 normally has 600 passengers.
The belly of the A380 has been turned into a relaxation zone, including a Turkish bath lined with marble.
Next door is a wellbeing room, where the floor and walls have been turned into a giant screen showing the ground
down below. Guests can stand on a 'magic carpet' and watch the journey, a scented breeze blowing into the room.
Cabin fragrancing has now found its way from VIP aircraft interiors into the airline industry as a whole.
If work really is unavoidable, the boardroom is on hand with iTouch screens and live share prices projected on
to the tables. For conference calls, a business partner on the ground can appear to join the meeting by being
virtually projected on to the table.
A lift shuttles between the aircraft's three floors, from the private quarters upstairs, down to the concert
hall, featuring a baby grand piano and seating for ten.
There are around 20 First Class seats for extra guests. When it comes to aircraft seating, this too is somewhat
of a speciality for Design Q who have an established track record as upholstery specification consultants and
colour and surface texture consultants. According to them, the style is elegant curves and swirls like Arabic
writing. The Turkish bath is aq centrepiece, a steam room with marble, low lights and lots of spa treatments to
choose from.
Luxury aircraft interiors
Design Q is a UK based design consultancy specialising in luxury transportation interiors. They recently
completed and launched the new Learjet 85 interior and an AVRO RJ70 in VIP configuration. Case4de invited Design Q
to partner with them on a number of VIP A380 interiors with a view to providing both exciting and feasible interior
turnkey solutions. Case4de, a Computer Aided Solutions Enabler, have a wealth of experience as integrators of the
Airbus A380 and extensive knowledge of the VIP market in the Middle East.
The A380 offers an incredible canvas on which to create exceptional VVIP aircraft interiors. Design Q believe it
is their role to create designs that not only fulfil the customers' expectations but also raise the bar. This
aircraft is all about the ultimate luxury travel experience and exudes confidence and commitment on the part of the
owner."
The VVIP A380 interior features a number of innovative design elements that have never before been seen on an
aircraft, collectively creating a highly expressive and individual interior. The architectural spaces have been
designed to deliver an experience that will leave no doubt that this is not only the most luxurious aircraft in
existence, but also reflects the cultural values and status of its owner.
A grand entrance hall with a floating spiral staircase joining three floors in the front section of the aircraft
leads to a large boardroom and private lounge. The boardroom can either be open to the main entrance hall creating
the feeling of a vast room or closed for private meetings. The boardroom is crammed with class-leading technology
allowing the owner access to multimedia feeds from around the world without leaving his seat at the head of the
table. Clever cabin mood-lighting and display technology is used to immerse the guests in an array of ambient
environments.
A private lift allows the principal to enter the aircraft from the ground, providing both a sense of occasion
and an effortless travel experience. Once in the aircraft, the lift is used to travel between floors.
Presenting technical and certification challenges, this aircraft interior concept design is feasible from an
engineering perspective and can be delivered to the highest of standards.
