The new Air France First Class product creates an almost ‘Zen-like’ ambience – a sophisticated environment that draws on furniture more commonly found in homes and boutique hotels.
The design called for the effect of contemporary furniture – achieved through the use of simulated wood and tan leather, creating a sophisticated and chic feel. But as important as what you can see, is what you can’t see. There are no latches or locks visible, no plugs or sockets to interrupt the elegant simplicity of the design; no TV monitor or headphones on display. Contour has hidden these elements away; available when needed, discreetly stowed when not – a considerable engineering challenge, but crucial to the aesthetic of the final product.

Contour exhibits Venus First Class Suite at Asian Aircraft Interiors Expo
Contour Premium Aircraft Seating exhibited Venus, its luxurious, multi-functional first class suite at this year’s Asian Aircraft Interiors Expo in Hong Kong.
Contour has once again collaborated with Acumen Design to develop this exciting new aircraft seating concept, which puts the seat’s functionality and passenger comfort at the forefront of its design. Venus’ elegant form and clever sculpting maximises living space and enables it to deliver a class leading width of 38-inches.
Unique features include a rising and lowering side arm, which also doubles as a privacy screen, a generously sized table which tracks forwards and back as well as a unique sliding light feature. The intelligent design of the sculpted centre console provides additional bed space, and privacy screens for centre seats can be raised or lowered. The sliding ottoman feature provides a seat for a guest as well as sufficient stowage for a travel pro and a slim-line wardrobe is an optional feature in the side-screen.

Contour's success with B787 ‘Aura’ premium business class seats
Contour Premium Aircraft Seating’s new Aura premium business class seats have been selected by six airlines for their Boeing 787 fleets - making Aura one of the most successful premium business class product in the Boeing 787 Dreamliner Catalogue to date.
Graham Ballard, Business Development Director at Contour said:
“A significant part of Aura’s success comes from the 3-inches of additional space that the unique S-shaped side arm yields to the width of the seat bay, providing 11% more width along the entire bed length with no tapering at the feet, when compared to similar products in its class.”
Aura is a flexible solution that has been engineered to deliver modularity, incorporating different widths and pitches adaptable for a range of cabins, including twin-aisle and even single-aisle aircraft whilst utilising existing seat tracks. Its re-programmable controls allow it to be re-configured by the airline themselves from an angled bed to a full lay-flat seats solution and thus helping airlines to meet the demands of seasonal routes or other operational changes.
Aura, designed by Acumen Design Associates, also has an enhanced centre console providing maximum stowage options and its unique in-board armrests double as in-built privacy screens.
