An example of ATL Aircraft design capabilities is Iron Maiden, Edforce
One. To accomplish Iron Maiden an EASA STC, European Aviation Safety Agency
Supplementary Type Certificate was obtained. In addition ATL can include FAA, Federal
Aviation Administration and CAA Civil Aviation Authority certification.
This particular example of Modification Programmes required the design of a new LOPA,
Layout of Passenger Accommodation with associated SEPs Safety Equipment Plans and aircraft Air Conditioning
reworks and galley reworks. In addition, Avionics, Electrical Power, Smoke Detection
and Camera surveillance were introduced to achieve a jewel amongst aircraft conversions, the Astraeus Boeing
aircraft from an all Passenger Configuration to a Quick Change Combi. This enterprise
was challenging and required a mixture of skills that demonstrated ATL’s attention to detail and commitment
to meeting deadlines. Iron Maiden Edforce One illustrates the aircraft livery work
that ATL can accomplish. Aircraft livery change and mandatory aircraft markings
required modification action the like of which ATL will accomplish in quick time and for a competitive
rate.
ATL will deal with all aspects of the Aircraft import and Helicopter importation into
the United Kingdom or other European registers working in collaboration with Part 145 approved
companies. This necessitates aircraft records research and the introduction of all
necessary Aircraft Modifications to meet Regulatory Authorities additional requirements including Avionics
modifications, Aircraft Repairs and associated Aircraft Stress Analysis. ATL’s CVE’s,
Compliance Verification Engineers in conjunction with ATL’s Office of Airworthiness envelop all aspects of
avionics, structures and interiors airworthiness.
Ministry of Defence (MoD) DAOS, Design Approved Organisations Scheme approval is held
by ATL allowing for compilation of Draft Aircraft Modifications and Form 100 certification with associated
Safety Case. The DAOS is defined in Defence Standards, Def Stan 05-123 and is managed
on behalf of the MAA, Military Aviation Authority by Technical Approvals (DAOS) at MoD Abbey
Wood. The department provides for independent assessment of the competence of Defence
Contractors and Service Organisations involved in aircraft design, aircraft equipment design or airborne
ordnance.
AutoCAD Computer Aided Design
Document control at ATL is managed by InnoCielo Teamwork Software and maintained in
accordance with ISO 9001 / 2000. Work is produced using AutoCAD Computer Aided Design
system, Finite Element Stress Analysis software, Microsoft Office Word, Excel and
Projects. This package allows ATL to present documents and avionics drawings,
structures and interiors drawings to a very high standard.
Human Resource is maintained by niceHR,
http://www.nicehr.co.uk/ and IIP, Investors In people. ATL has been awarded and maintained
their Investor in People certificate, recognised March 2006
http://www.investorsinpeople.co.uk/Pages/Home.aspx.
To make effective Health and Safety and environmental issues ATL require employees to
become involved and committed. To assist in this endeavour ATL provides support and
has allocated responsibilities to employees to provide clear direction and control of health and safety and
environmental issues.
QAR Quick Access Recorders
ATL have established Company links with the leading UK providers of QAR, Quick Access
Recorders. Aerobytes and Flight Data Services use ATL exclusively for the certification of their units on
aircraft including, Airbus, Avions de Transport Régional (ATR), British Aerospace (BAe), Bombardier, Cessna,
De Havilland, Embraer, Fokker, SAAB, Shorts and the Avro Vulcan. http://www.aerobytes.co.uk/;

Satellite Communication certification
In association with Blue Sky Network
Satcom ATL provides EASA and FAA certification for Satellite Communication on a range of aircraft and
rotorcraft. A list of ATL’s STC and Minor Modifications may be found on
http://www.blueskynetwork.com/index.php.
Avionics upgrades
Latest Avionics upgrades such as CPDLC, Controller Pilot Data Link Communications are
within ATL’s scope of approval. DVD is available on request at
link2000@eurocontrol.int.
In addition to certification, ATL provide aircraft Manual updates including Flight
Manual, Minimum Equipment List, Electrical Load Analysis, Weight and Balance Schedule, Maintenance Manual and
Illustrated Parts Catalogue.
Aviation special projects design
ATL’s versatility can be illustrated by work carried out for Iron Maiden, also Bristow
Helicopters (BHL) on behalf of FBS Helicopter Training where a complete avionics replacement on AS350
helicopters was achieved, to avionics replacement B747 passenger and freighter aircraft on a foreign
fleet. ATL’s wide ranging experience of aviation design makes us uniquely
placed to tackle Special Projects of all kinds.
